Enugu First Lady Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah Invites Women to 2025 Women’s August Meeting, Tagged "Women As Nation Builders"

 


The Wife of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Her Excellency, Mrs. Nkechinyere Iheoma Mbah, has extended a warm invitation to all women to attend the Enugu Women’s August Meeting 2025, holding on Saturday, 9th August 2025, at Okpara Square, Independence Layout, Enugu, starting at 10:00 a.m.

With the theme “Women as Nation Builders,” the annual gathering will bring together women from across the state and beyond, leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, and community champions, to celebrate their achievements and reaffirm their vital role in shaping the society.

The event promises cultural displays, inspiring keynote speeches, and interactive sessions aimed at encouraging women’s active involvement in governance, economic growth, and peacebuilding.

Mrs. Mbah called on women in both urban and rural areas to come out in large numbers, noting that their unity, voice, and vision are crucial for building a stronger and more prosperous Enugu State. “Every woman has a role in nation building, and this meeting is our platform to share ideas, inspire one another, and work together for the future we want,” she said.

Shettima, 13 Governors Pay New Year Homage to Tinubu in Lagos

Vice-President Kashim Shettima and 13 state governors paid a New Year homage to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Wednesday. The president is currently in Lagos for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Among the governors present were Abba Yusuf of Kano, Sherriff Oborevwori of Delta, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers.   The House of Representatives member representing the people of Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, Rt Hon. Oriyomi Adewunmi Onanuga, aka Ijaya, is reportedly dead. According to Gistcore, Onanuga, the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, died after a brief illness. Meanwhile, the sad news is yet to be made official to the public either by NASS or the family. Born on December 2, 1965, Onanuga was a politician and entrepreneur. She had been the Deputy Chief Whip of the Nigerian House of Representatives since 2023. She was born in Hammersmith, London to Nigerian parents. In 2019, Onanuga contested election for Member, House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and won. She was also the chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development.
