UK Court Jails Nigerian Man 10 Years After Bràtal Ræpe Of Woman In Nottingham...
Timilehin Olatunji, a 35-year-old Nigerian, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the brutal rape of a woman at a property in Nottingham on September 29, 2024. The victim bravely used a mobile app to record audio evidence of the attack before escaping and reporting the crime to Nottinghamshire Police.
Olatunji was arrested shortly afterward and charged with three counts of rape, to which he pleaded guilty. During the sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court on January 15, Judge Michael Auty described the assault as “despicable and vile,” condemning Olatunji’s actions as “brutal, sadistic, and cruel.”
In addition to his prison sentence, Olatunji has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and is subject to an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim.
Detective Constable Emily Bucklow of Nottinghamshire Police praised the victim’s bravery, especially considering the harrowing nature of the audio evidence, which added to the distressing nature of the case. She commended the victim for her courage throughout the investigation
