HAPPENING NOW! Police Operatives Storm PDP Headquarters Over Tussle For National Secretary Seat

Tension has gripped the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the deployment of police operatives to the area. The heightened security is in response to a dispute over the party’s National Secretary position, which is contested by Samuel Anyanwu and Ude Okoye. Supporters of both factions have gathered at the headquarters, intensifying the charged atmosphere.

The controversy began after Anyanwu contested the Imo State governorship election and was defeated by the incumbent. During his absence, Ude Okoye assumed the position of National Secretary. Upon Anyanwu's return, a dispute arose, with Okoye challenging Anyanwu’s claim to the office, arguing that he had effectively taken over the role during Anyanwu’s absence.

A court ruling later favored Okoye, and the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) officially recognized him as the legitimate National Secretary. Despite this, Anyanwu remains defiant, insisting that he holds the position until the Supreme Court delivers its final verdict on the matter.

The standoff highlights growing internal divisions within the PDP, as both sides rally supporters to assert control over the critical party office. This situation underscores the need for a swift resolution to prevent further escalation and preserve unity within the party.
