BREAKING: Court Sacks All Rivers PDP Exco Members Loyal to Wike

The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepened on Monday as the Rivers State High Court nullified all party congresses conducted in the state under the leadership of former Governor Nyesom Wike. Justice Stephen Jumbo delivered the ruling, declaring the congresses held at the ward, local government, and state levels in 2024 as void.

The court’s decision effectively dissolves the executive structures of the PDP in Rivers State, which were dominated by loyalists of Wike. This ruling is seen as a major blow to Wike’s influence within the PDP in the state. The former governor, who played a prominent role in the party during his tenure, has been at the center of ongoing internal wrangling within the party.

Justice Jumbo cited irregularities in the conduct of the congresses, including violations of party guidelines and the failure to adhere to due process. The ruling paves the way for fresh congresses to be conducted, though the timeline for these exercises has not yet been set.

This latest development is expected to further polarize the PDP in Rivers State, as factions loyal to Wike and opposing groups continue to vie for control of the party’s structure in the state. Political analysts believe that the ruling could have significant ramifications on the party’s ability to present a united front in future elections.
