Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme Transforms Lives, Holds Second Batch of 2024 Medical Intervention
In a continued commitment to public health, the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, spearheaded by former Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has once again left an indelible mark on the lives of citizens. Recent medical interventions under this initiative saved four individuals from various surgical cases, bringing relief and hope to Enugu residents.
The humanitarian healthcare initiative, which has expanded its reach to different parts of the state, welcomed an influx of patients in the early days of 2024. Oyi Thomas from UVURU, who had a complicated Right inguinoscrotal with associated Hydrocoele, and Okechukwu Diugwuoke from Abbi with a persistent Hydrocoele of the cord, both had successful surgical procedures at no cost, thanks to Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme.
Caroline Aruma, originally from Ugbene Ajima but residing in Lagos, sought help after hearing about the program. She underwent Lumpectomy to remove a Giant Lipoma on her left shoulder. Blessing Asogwa, an Enugu citizen residing in Lagos, expressed gratitude for the program's intervention in her complicated uterine fibroid case through myomectomy.
The beneficiaries shared their heartfelt testimonies, praising the initiative for restoring their health and well-being. The Director-General of Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, Dr. George Ajogwu, lauded Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as the "Messiah of Our Time." Dr. Ajogwu emphasized Ugwuanyi's ongoing sponsorship of the healthcare initiative, even after leaving the governor's office, ensuring that no Enugu citizen faces financial burdens for surgeries covered by the program.
The Director-General also extended gratitude to the current Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Mbah, and Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, acknowledging their significant development strides in Enugu State. The collaborative efforts aim to provide accessible healthcare and uplift the well-being of Enugu citizens under the umbrella of Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme.
